Welcoming John Stewart, the 71st President of the Florida Bar to the MNBP!

John was recently sworn in as President of the Florida Bar, the 3rd largest bar in the United States, after having served on the Young Lawyer’s Division, having been President of the Young Lawyer’s Division, and having served on the Board of Governors. He is a third generation Florida lawyer who has a great balance of being humorous while maintaining the seriousness that is required of lawyers.

Our conversation begins with a few tidbits about his hometown, Vero Beach, Florida, which can be described as the perfect place for people who do not like cold weather and who enjoy being outdoors. Our conversation was a fun one with lots of laughs and I hope that you will enjoy getting to know John on a better level.

He shared about his first post-college, non-law job abroad that provided him great perspective about the world. We learn not only how he spends his time (between his law practice and being a Dad) but how he has been heavily active and involved with the FL Bar for over the past twenty years.

It was so refreshing to hear how he has, at this point, reflected on his career, what he has learned, and in general, his thoughts about how he has gotten to where he is. While he has worked hard, he shared with us that he has taken chances and that they were well worth it. He provides great advice for young lawyers and seasoned practitioners alike. Florida lawyers are lucky to be members of a bar that is led by such a kind and down to earth leader.

I hope that you will find our conversation as enjoyable as I did.

Thanks again for joining us, John!
