The next episode of the MNBP features Meredith Jones, a former public defender and small firm owner, who followed her enthusiasm and continues to by helping lawyers manage their stress through yoga-based-mindfulness.
Currently based in Minneapolis, MN with a move to her homestate of Florida planned this summer, Meredith owns and operates a beautiful “law adjacent endeavor” called Do Justly Now. This allows her to work primarily with lawyers (and others interested!) where she teachers them “to decrease stress and increase job satisfaction” through yoga-based-mindfulness. Practicing law is very stressful and in years past there were not as many resources, discussions, and individuals like Meredith working with lawyers to help them manage their stress, positively and in a productive manner, so it is refreshing to hear and learn more about the work Meredith is doing.
We learn how she fell into yoga during law school and how she has forged this path for herself taking into account her past experience as a practitioner and her passion for yoga. Our conversation even touches on a few pointers Meredith shares for students who are studying for the Florida Bar Exam so be sure to listen until the end when we learn these.
